We recently had the pleasure of learning from our water resources engineer, Easton Perkins, during a company-sponsored Lunch & Learn. He shared insights from a Sediment Transport course he took through Utah State University‘s Department of Watershed Sciences. He highlighted how rivers shape themselves—and how engineers can design with nature in mind. A great reminder that understanding critical processes leads to more resilient, sustainable solutions.
At HCF, we take our engineering seriously—but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Somewhere between stormwater modeling and site grading plans, we realized there was one thing missing from our weekly routine: truly terrible puns.
Enter: Bad Pun of the Week.
It’s our way of reminding ourselves (and you!) that a little humor goes a long way—even in the world of civil engineering. So why are we doing this?

Because laughter is a great stress reliever (even the kind that makes you roll your eyes).
And because honestly, we just can’t resist a solid foundation for a good pun.
