Corner Canyon Creek Streambank Stabilization
Corner Canyon Creek Streambank Stabilization
Salt Lake County, Utah
As the surrounding area has grown, increasing foot traffic near Corner Canyon Creek highlighted the need for improved streambank safety. Years of natural downcutting had created steep, eroded banks along the corridor. HCF designed a grading solution to reduce bank height and improve safety while staying outside the ordinary high water mark, floodway, and vegetation line to protect native species.
The design included a 3:1 graded slope, two pedestrian bridge crossings, and a full restoration plan with native plantings and slope stabilization. Floodway stage, OHWM, and wetland boundaries were carefully considered to protect the creek’s natural hydraulic function throughout.
